keep kids safe online – Internet Safety For Children – 3 Tips to Keep Kids Safe Online

Children now days face danger not just on the outside, but on the inside as well; within the digital corridors and alleys of the internet. The net is so vast and wide open that even adults find themselves caught in areas they didn’t intend to navigate. Internet safety for children should be a top priority for parents. Here’s how to ensure safety online for kids.

1. Become Computer Literate.

Now days many kids know more about the family computer than the parents do. If this is the case, you should take the time to learn about your computer. There are ways you can block certain websites, and access internet history to make sure your kids aren’t surfing places they shouldn’t be.

2. Share an Email Account.

If you have a young child using the internet, and they really want an email account, then set one up yourself and share it with them. This way you can monitor incoming emails and delete spam emails which may be objectionable. Sharing an email should be done up to a certain age. Once your child shows responsibility and understands things like spam email, then perhaps they can be allowed their own email. Some parents wait until their kids turn 16 before they allow their children their own email.

3. Get Monitoring Software.

Even if you know about computers, share email accounts with your child, there are still many, many risks that threaten internet safety for children. Your child can easily learn how to erase their internet history, or create their own email account without you knowing. Getting monitoring software will ensure internet safety for children. You can install it discreetly without anyone knowing. It won’t be obvious or apparent that the monitor software is installed and running. Then you can go back and actually track all internet activity, including chat room exchanges, messaging, and websites visited. This is a great tool and powerful deterrent to keep kids safe online.
